Last week's national election was horrible for federal energy and climate policy. Green Energy Consumers Alliance is not chartered to engage in elections, but we are allowed to talk policy. So, we will.
As crushed as we may all feel now, the feds do not have a monopoly in this area. We know this because for 42 years we have been working on state-level climate policy in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and that has made a difference.
We have been effective in delivering excellent consumer-facing programs and advocacy that is respected in both state houses. Compared to most other states in the country, our states are leading the way. This has to continue.
We do not want to exploit your anxiety over the election, but this is also not a time for us to be shy about putting ourselves forward as being one small part of the overall answer. Our mission is to empower consumers and communities to speed a just transition to a zero-carbon world. Green Energy Consumers works to do that at the state level. With your financial support, we will keep making progress toward that mission.
As it happens, long before election day, generous donors offered to match contributions made to Green Energy Consumers in November up to a total of $20,000. That means if you contribute any amount, our friends will double it.
We can be hopeful about the future. But more than that, we can have a strategy and commitment to make our planet, nation, and states better places to live. Help us fulfill that commitment.
