Frequent readers of our blog know that our mission is to make it easier for consumers to switch away from fossil fuels for their homes and transportation. Every policy change that we advocate is intended to remove barriers and prioritize the implementation of non-polluting ways of meeting our needs. This work of greening our grid, our roadways, and our buildings includes the major industries that offer employment and generate goods and services that we all depend upon.
Green Energy Consumers is proud to be engaged in an energy efficiency project initiated by community leaders in Massachusetts’ fishing industry. Energy Efficient Fisheries (EEF) is a project funded by Congress in 2023, thanks to Senator Ed Markey and Senator Elizabeth Warren, hosted by Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Development Programs, and led by an advisory committee representing large and small seafood businesses and fisheries across Massachusetts. Through EEF, Green Energy Consumers provides energy advising services to shoreside businesses, while other aspects of the project focus on energy-saving opportunities on the boats.
We’re pleased to share a new video overview of the EEF work on making fishing boats more efficient, featuring EEF’s lead consultant on boat decarbonization, Chandler Kemp.
Thanks to our friends at Cape Ann Climate Coalition for this video!
For more on Energy Efficient Fisheries, please see the project website and our earlier blog post: Fish Can Ride Electric, Too. For energy advising of seafood and other fisheries-related businesses, you can request energy advising by calling 617-380-4741 or emailing Loie@greenenergyconsumers.org.
