Posted by Erin Taylor on Friday, April 03, 2020 @ 09:08 AM

Have you been hearing from "green" electricity suppliers like CleanChoice Energy? You might want to support renewable energy, but are skeptical if your money will actually go toward shifting our electricity away from fossil fuels.

This is a valid concern, and (because of our awesome Green Powered electricity program) one we hear often. That's why we address it pretty regularly on our blog.

Carbon impacts of flying got you down?

Posted by Erin Taylor on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 @ 04:00 PM

For a couple decades now, we've offered consumers an easy way to have their electricity usage met by renewable energy. That's simple — just plug some wind and solar into the grid. But how about air travel? Although progress is being made on electric planes (you read that right), it will be a while before you get on a jet powered by batteries. But we need to mitigate the impacts of flying because those impacts are real, huge, and growing.

Are you getting greenwashed by your electricity supplier?

Posted by Erin Taylor on Tuesday, August 07, 2018 @ 10:17 AM

Been hearing from "green electricity" suppliers like CleanChoice Energy? You want to support the generation of electricity from renewable sources, but how do you know if a green power program will use your dollars to speed our transition to clean energy? How would you know whether your purchase of green power is actually contributing to shifting the mix of electricity that powers our electric grid away from fossil fuels?

These are valid questions that we, as a non-profit energy organization working in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and offering a program that allows you to make the switch to renewable energy, get asked every day. So here it is: Green Power Bootcamp, in a blog.

https://www.greenenergyconsumers.org/aggregation15 years ago our non-profit organization stepped into the voluntary green power market, hoping to speed up pace of wind & solar development. Heating Oil Budget Plan: Set Yours Up Now!

Posted by Erin Taylor on Friday, August 21, 2015 @ 11:42 AM

Is there such thing as peace of mind when it comes to heating oil bills? A budget plan may be the answer. Signing up for a heating oil budget plan through your oil dealer is a good way to spread out your oil bill into 10 to 12 monthly payments, making oil bills more like a regular utility. Your cost is fairly even and there are no surprise huge oil bills that sneak up on you. It also helps dealers plan, reduce their costs and become more efficient.

Western Mass Electric Co. Teams Up With Mass Energy to Offer Renewable Energy to Customers!

Posted by Erin Taylor on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 @ 10:25 AM

We’ll celebrate at Berkshire East Ski Resort & Canopy Tours on July 27th, and you’re invited.

Coming up on July 27th is Mass Energy and People’s Power & Light’s 4th annual Berkshire East Wind Turbine Festival in Charlemont, MA (get your tickets here). Local wind turbine power at Berkshire East is a huge success story—it literally helped keep this family-run ski and zip-lining resort from shutting its doors. Mass Energy/PP&L was able to play a role in Berkshire East’s success by contracting to purchase renewable energy certificates (RECs) from their local wind turbine long-term.
